The Wharekura at Te Whānau Tahi caters for Years 9-13. All students participate in a full curriculum, with the following subject areas on offer: Te reo Pākehā, Te Reo Matatini, Pāngarau, Pūtaiao, Tikanga-ā-iwi, Puoro, Ngā Toi, 3D Printing, Kapa Haka, and other specialist subjects as requested.

Our Wharekura students regularly represent Waitaha at regional and national competitions, including Manu Kōrero and Kapa Haka. There are many different opportunities for students to participate in extra-curricular activities, both within and beyond our school.

Pastoral care takes place during Formtime each day, where we foster the values of Tuakana/ Teina, looking after each other. Careers guidance is integrated into our teaching and learning programmes, providing support for all students with career pathways.

Te Wahakura, our student leadership team, supports and enhances student experiences at Te Whānau Tahi through the organisation of school activities, games and events throughout the year.

Assessment calendar

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_3ea.jpg

E tika ana kia mōhio whānuitia ki te whānau ngā rā e tū ai ngā aromatawai. He mea nui kia āta whakarite te ākonga i tāna e ako nei wiki atu wiki mai. Nā reira ko te whakaaro kia ngāwari ake tāna whātoro mai ki tēnei whārangi, me te mōhio āhea ia e aromatawaihia ai. Mā tērā e tika ai tā te ākonga whakarite i a ia āno.

It is important that assessments dates are readily available to whānau. This helps students to prepare for learning and assessment throughout the year.  We hope that by making this information easily accessible to students, that they will know when they are being assessed, and can prepare accordingly.
